Consider Church Planting

Have you ever considered church planting? If you haven't heard yet, our church is in the process of planting one. The goal is to plant a church out east (think Eastvale, Mira Loma, etc.) that carries FCBC Walnut's DNA — that is, a Chinese-heritage church anchored by the English congregation.

I want to invite you to consider this opportunity to plant a church and carry out our church's vision to reproduce vibrant churches locally and globally. Pray whether or not God is calling you to join this endeavor. Here are some questions to help you process:

  1. Where do you live? To be a local church, you should technically live close to your church. Are you stewarding the location God has placed you in as a way to reach your community with the gospel? Are you willing to move to church plant?

  2. Do you like to start new endeavors? Church planting is comparable to a startup. Does starting new ministries and putting on different roles excite you? Perhaps God has equipped you to be an essential part of the church plant team.

  3. Do you have a heart for evangelism and missions? Missions is not just about saving the lost. It is about bringing people to be part of the church. Therefore, by planting a new church, you can bring those who accept Jesus as Lord and Savior into a disciple-making context.

  4. Are you satisfied and content in FCBC Walnut now and in your spiritual walk? If you are wrestling with discontentment or conflict, it may feel easy to run away to a church plant to start fresh. But friend, you cannot run away from your own heart. I would encourage you to resolve your wrestling first before considering going church planting.

  5. Are you serving now at FCBC Walnut? If you are not, I would recommend serving now at a church that is established, so that you can understand how ministry operates and prepare yourself for church planting. If you are serving, pray about whether or not it is time for you to transition and how that transition would look like.

I highly encourage you to pray about church planting and for the church plant. If you have any questions about the church plant, I would love to engage with you. Let me know how I can best serve you.
