It Is Not Good For Man To Serve Alone

Men and women serving together.

On Friday night, I was reminded that God uses different people to do his will. It was our first time mixing counselors and student leaders on the music team. And due to sickness and other commitments for my male counselor and student, I found myself serving with an all-female music team.

Now don’t get me wrong – I have no problem with female musicians. But in this situation, I was keenly aware of my male-ness. While I can speak the language of music and I can communicate how we should be generally living our lives as Christians, there are certain ways that women can relate to other women.

While there is a call for me to lead in a general sense, my female counselors are able to lead, relate, and speak to my female students in a special sense. They can work and serve in ways that I cannot. Older women are to teach and train the younger women.

So I am thankful for the opportunity to serve alongside the older and younger women at my church. And not just in music ministry. We need each other.
