Three Ways to Walk

One of my reading habits is to read through the book of Ephesians every week. The book has six chapters, and I read one chapter a day starting on Monday.

On Saturday, I finish chapter six and I take Sunday off from reading. I have grown to look forward to it, and I often find myself eager to start the week just to read again.

Watch Your Walk

Ephesians 5 is all about living the Christian life. The author, Paul, calls it your Christian walk. Your walk is how you live your life. It is your day to day living. Here are three ways that he describes how we should walk in that chapter.

1. Walk in love – Ephesians 5:2

There is a specific way to walk in love, and it is the way that Christ loved us. It is a love that looks out for the interests of others. It is a love that seeks to keep everything together in harmony. It is the love of Jesus.

2. Walk as children of light – Ephesians 5:7

The light is everything that is good and right and true. It is to walk in the ways of Jesus and acknowledge that you are a son or daughter of God. It is to live your life in the light of the Lord.

3. Walk wisely – Ephesians 5:15

Walking in wisdom means making the best use of the time because the days are evil. It means understanding what the will of the Lord is. It means being filled with the Spirit. It means giving thanks and submitting to one another out of reverence for Christ.

Our Destination

We walk to reach a destination. For those who are in Christ, our destination is with God in Heaven. My prayer for this year is that we will journey together, even run the race together, and receive the prize of the upward call of Christ.
